Toyota 4Runner: How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

HINT:

  • Use these procedures to troubleshoot the theft deterrent system.
  • *: Use the Techstream.
  • The troubleshooting procedures for the theft deterrent system are based on the premise that the door lock control system, wireless door lock control system, lighting system, horn system, engine immobiliser system and smart key system (w/ Smart Key System) are operating normally. Check these systems first before troubleshooting the theft deterrent system.

PROCEDURE

VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP

INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE

Standard voltage:

11 to 14 V

If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding.

CHECK COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM*

(a) Use the Techstream to check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally.
