Toyota 4Runner: On-vehicle Inspection

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

2. INSPECT FRONT SUSPENSION LOWER NO. 1 ARM

(a) Install the hub nuts to the disc.

(b) Using a dial indicator, check the lower ball joint for excessive play by pushing the hub nuts up and down with a force of 294 N (30 kgf, 66 lbf).

Maximum play:

0.5 mm (0.02 in.)

If the play is not within the specification, replace the lower arm.


3. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

Torque:

for aluminum wheel :

103 N·m {1050 kgf·cm, 76 ft·lbf}

for steel wheel :

112 N·m {1142 kgf·cm, 83 ft·lbf}
