DESCRIPTION

  • The rear airbag sensor consists of the safing sensor, diagnostic circuit, lateral deceleration sensor, etc.
  • If the center airbag sensor receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.
  • DTC B1630 or B1635 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the rear airbag sensor circuit.

  • A rear airbag sensor RH malfunction.
  • A center airbag sensor malfunction.
  • Rear airbag sensor RH

B1635/24

Either condition is met:

  • A rear airbag sensor LH malfunction.
  • A center airbag sensor malfunction.
  • Rear airbag sensor LH
  • Center airbag sensor assembly

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal while performing repairs, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See page ).


PROCEDURE

1.

CHECK FOR DTC

(a) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(b) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (See page
).

(c) Turn the ignition switch off.

(d) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(e) Check for DTCs (See page ).

2.

CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH

(a) Turn the ignition switch off.


(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Interchange the rear airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.

(d) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(f) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (See page
).

(g) Turn the ignition switch off.

(h) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(i) Check for DTCs (See page ).

(j) Turn the ignition switch off.

(k) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(l) Return the rear airbag sensor LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.

CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR LH

(a) Turn the ignition switch off.


(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Interchange the rear airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.

(d) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

(e) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(f) Clear the DTCs stored in memory (See page
).

(g) Turn the ignition switch off.

(h) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(i) Check for DTCs (See page ).
